Joette Pelster

Joette Pelster (Executive Director) is the Coterie's Executive Director. She completed her undergraduate degree in political science from Creighton University realizing she wanted to go into theatre. After this realization, Joette spent six months as a research analyst at the Nebraska Legislature, reading 100 plays to catch up before completing two years of graduate work at the University of Nebraska's Theatre Arts program. Before joining the Coterie in 1993, Joette was the first executive director of the Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey and marketing director for the Folly Theatre. She took a brief sabbatical from the Coterie to assist in the opening of the Gem Theatre. Joette is a board member of the Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey and a board member of the Charlotte Street Foundation. She has been a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts and the Missouri Arts Council.
