2021 Teen Fringe KC

The Coterie Theatre & Fringe Festival KC offer a special virtual playwriting workshop for teens!

Teens entering grades 7-12 are encouraged to explore their most creative story ideas and work toward developing their own play through the Reaching The Write Minds playwriting workshop.  We are a special teen feature of Fringe Festival KC!

During the 4-hour virtual session (split into two 2-hour days), teen playwrights will learn to create settings, devise scenarios, build characters, and develop fully written scenes.  Upon completion of the seminar, participants will have devised a beginning scenario for a complete play and will begin scene work.  Some participants may be contacted to develop their plays in The Coterie's Young Playwrights' Roundtable, a free teen playwriting group offered by invitation-only.

The session is facilitated by:
Writer, director, professional actor, and teaching artist R.H. Wilhoit
Playwright, educator, director, and teaching artist Lacy Cunningham

Dates:  Thursday, July 29 & Friday, July 30
Times: 1:00-3:00pm each date (participants must attend entire 4-hour workshop)
