ARTISTIC ADVENTURES
Incredible pieces of art have been left on the wall for far too long. It’s time to jump in and make up stories about paintings created by artists from around the world. Students will create scenes and characters based on famous artwork and even some of their very own masterpieces! Get your imaginations ready, because it’s time to explore!

Meet the Teaching Artists - Austin Meyer

Austin Meyer received his MA in actor training and coaching from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and his BA in drama from the University of Michigan. He has taught and coached actors at the University of Michigan (Flint, Ann Arbor), Arts Educational School of Acting (London), Rose Bruford College (London), Acting Coach Scotland (Glasgow), and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His passion is in teaching and learning from actors of all ages, and helping to facilitate them to achieve their dreams.

Austin will teach Artistic Adventures April 4 - May 9: Saturdays 9:00-10:30am

 

Meet the Teaching Artists - Katie Lee

Katie Lee is a proud K.C. native, teaching artist, director, and stage manager. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a BSEd in Speech, Theatre, and English. She taught high school for a while before heading to the University of Central Missouri where she received her MA in Theatre with an emphasis in history and criticism. Katie has been teaching theatre to Kansas City's youth for nearly a decade and has directed several children's shows in the area. In her free time, Katie can be found painting or exploring the Kansas City arts and food scenes with her husband and son.

Katie will teach Artistic Adventures April 7 - May 12: Tuesdays 5:00-6:30pm

Meet the Teaching Artists - Shawna Downing

Shawna Downing is a 2012 graduate of Avila University with a BFA in Musical Theatre and a BA in Communications.  She continuously works as a professional actor and teaching artist with various youth-centered organizations in Kansas City.  Shawna has been seen on many Kansas City stages including The Coterie, Unicorn Theatre, Mesner Puppet Theater, Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre, Theatre for Young America, and KC MeltingPot Theatre.  Shawna loves to spend her time, energy, and free spirit being an educator, laughing, eating, and giving back.  She lives to create and perform quality work that inspires, entertains, and educates.
