The past, present, and future are always hanging in careful balance. It’s up to you and your team of heroes to keep that balance and maintain order! Students will explore scenes and characters from various decades and eras, bringing to life days gone by and days yet to come. Are you up for the task?

Meet the Teaching Artists - Bailey Ellis

Bailey Ellis first stepped onto the stage when she was 11 years old and never looked back. She is a graduate of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota with a BA in Theatre and Marketing. Bailey has worked with multiple theatres in Kansas City and is a company puppeteer for StoneLion Puppets. When she isn’t teaching at The Coterie, Bailey works as a local Makeup Artist. Bailey has fallen in love with KC and enjoys finding new coffee shops, going to markets, and walking her dog around the beautiful parks with her husband.

Meet the Teaching Artists - Melissa Trierweiler

Melissa Trierweiler is an actor, director, and teaching artist based in Kansas City, MO. She is originally from Columbia, MO, where she received a BFA in Theatre Arts from Stephens College in 2016. Since her graduation she has worked as a professional teaching artist and director at many places including TRYPS Children’s Theatre Institute (Columbia, MO), Presser Arts Center (Mexico, MO), and of course The Coterie Theatre here in Kansas City! She has taught many different ages of students, ranging from three years old to college aged! She has also directed full length plays and musicals including Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, and Dinosaurs Before Dark: Kids! When not teaching or directing, Melissa also loves to perform onstage as an actor and singer! She has been seen in a few local productions, her favorites include The Belfast Girls at Fishtank Theatre and Mirrors: A Staged Reading with Bodhi Theatre. She has also performed at the Okoboji Summer Theatre and the Boji Bantam Children’s Theatre in Iowa since leaving college. When not teaching, Melissa can still be found working at The Coterie as a box office assistant, house manager, and peer educator with the Dramatic STD/HIV Project.

Meet the Teaching Artists - Katie Lee

Katie Lee is a proud K.C. native, teaching artist, director, and stage manager. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a BSEd in Speech, Theatre, and English. She taught high school for a while before heading to the University of Central Missouri where she received her MA in Theatre with an emphasis in history and criticism. Katie has been teaching theatre to Kansas City's youth for nearly a decade and has directed several children's shows in the area. In her free time, Katie can be found painting or exploring the Kansas City arts and food scenes with her husband and son.
