What To Expect

For Families & Patrons

Everyone entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a ticket.

All seating is general admission (much like a movie theatre) and is on a first-come, first-served basis. The theatre doors open and seating begins 30 minutes before curtain time. Late comers will be seated at the discretion of the management.

The Coterie's family series shows features a combination of seating on the carpeted floor up front (for age 12 and younger) for the best possible view, and tiered theatre seats for adults and seniors. Depending on your arrival time, floor seating may be all that is still available for your party. We recommend arriving at least 20 minutes prior to show time.

The Coterie's preteen and older series productions always utilize chair seating only.

Infants and Toddlers

Because live theatre places special demands on the audience, we do not recommend bringing very young children to our performances. We have found that children under 5 years of age are easily distracted during live productions. Everyone entering the theatre - including all infants and toddlers - must have a paid admission. If they are disruptive during the performance, please take them to the lobby as a courtesy to others. If you have questions about the appropriateness of a play for your child, please contact the box office at (816) 474-6552.

Special Needs

If anyone in your family or group has a special need - such as a wheelchair space or accommodations for hearing or visually impaired persons - please notify the box office when making your reservation. We have braille programs and several hearing assistance devices available for checkout at the box office window.

Bad Weather

An exception to this is an official city-wide emergency that requires citizens not be on the street.

On the unlikely chance The Coterie cancels a performance, such cancellations will be announced at least 2 hours before the scheduled start of the show. The means of communication will include email notices to the patron email we have on record, announcements on our website and social media, and a voice mail message on our Box Office line (816-474-6552).

The Coterie believes that patrons should use their best judgment regarding travel to and from Coterie events and always place their safety as the first and highest priority.

If The Coterie performs as scheduled, best efforts may be made to accommodate those patrons unable to attend the performance by offering them the option of moving to a future performance of the same production (exchange fees will apply). We cannot guarantee availability, especially if the weather event occurs near the close of a production run. If we are unable to exchange your tickets to another performance of the same production, call the Box Office (816-474-6552) during regular business hours to discuss your options.

The Coterie does not refund the purchase price of tickets if the performance has occurred.

In the rare occurrence The Coterie cancels a performance due to weather or other emergency, we will refund the cost of the ticket(s) or offer an exchange to any available production in our current season.
