Acting with Movement

Description: How can we better use our bodies and actions to transform into characters and tell stories? In this class, we will use movement exercises to create more realized and unique characters along with exploring pantomime work. Actors will learn physical and movement-based storytelling techniques to unlock new characters created by you. This class offers an opportunity for consideration in The Coterie’s Acting Master class. Audition Lab

Description: Audition Lab is a great way to prepare for upcoming auditions! With the help of a professional teaching artist, students will choose audition monologues that match their age, personality, and individual audition needs. Students will prepare a monologue, develop successful strategies for cold readings, and learn how to create a professional resume. The final class includes a special audition with a member of The Coterie staff for youth roles in the upcoming Coterie season. This class offers an opportunity for consideration in The Coterie's Acting Master class. Avast! Pirates in Peril!

Description: Get ready to set sail with adventurous rogues for long lost treasure and glory! Students will create their own seafaring characters while working together to build an epic quest across the seven seas. So raise the Jolly Roger and hop on board our ship to imagination and adventure. Bluey, Bingo, and You

Description: Bluey and Bingo can take any idea and turn it into a game of pretend! Act like a granny, chase away the fairies, or start your own taxi business. In this class, we will use our body, voice, and imagination to explore silly characters and games from Bluey, and create our own. Get ready to switch to “dance mode” for this tail wagging fun time! Character Study: The Mysterious and Spooky

Description: What would it be like to be an Edgar Allen Poe character? Or be dark and gothic like Wednesday Addams? Explore what it is like to step into your favorite mysterious characters from spooky stories you love like Wednesday, Stranger Things, or Beetlejuice. Young actors will be guided through visualization exercises, movement and voice work, back-story activities, and explore character relationships. This class offers an opportunity for consideration in The Coterie’s Acting Master class. Enchantment, Myth, and Magic

Description: Get your wands, spells, and magic dust ready because we are exploring the world of enchantment. While creating bold, mystic characters we will explore enchanting literature and create our own legendary adventures. Whether you are a wizard casting spells or a mysterious mythical creature, we need you to come along on this magical ride! Imagination Box*

Description: Anything you can dream up will appear with the Imagination Box! A unicorn? A spaceship? A unicorn on a spaceship? Let’s make it happen with our voices, bodies, and imaginations as we create our own characters and stories with new friends. We provide the box; you provide the imagination.

Intergalactic Misfits

Description: Hop into your spaceships and grab your space lasers! It’s an intergalactic call to action! We will create quirky, cosmic characters as we discover new life forms, explore strange planets, and help save the galaxy. Work together with other explorers to create scenes and stories about our oddball characters and their adventures in other galaxies. My Stuffie and Me*

Description: A teddy bear, a bunny, a tiger—no matter what your favorite stuffie is, we want to meet them! Bring your body, voice, imagination… AND your favorite stuffie to class as we explore together each week. Our stuffies will watch us as we work together and join in on our adventures when we need their help!

Mysterious Mansion

Description: Have you heard? There have been strange happenings in the mysterious mansion. Are there ghosts? A secretive family? Discover what is inside by creating scenes and characters and get to the bottom of this mystery. Bring your imagination and be prepared to search for clues; it’s up to you to figure out how this story ends. Out Loud: Create Your Own Play

Description: Let’s get on our feet and team up to write and perform a brand-new play! This is a unique performance experience where students will get a chance to work with a professional playwright to create a new short play, and a professional director to rehearse the show in time to have a world premiere on Friday night! On the first day, students will be led through playwriting and character creation activities. Then our playwright will take your ideas and turn them into a script that you will rehearse and perform on Friday evening. Bring your creativity and join us for this fun and exciting challenge! All students enrolled will have a speaking role—some large and some small. Puppy and Kitty Adventures*

Description: Our youngest actors will become cute and cuddly animals, acting with movement, music, and visual arts. Together the students will use their bodies, voices, and imaginations to act like puppies and kittens and go on pet adventures together. Each day will be based on a great book about our fun and furry friends!

Storybook Explorers

Description: Ever wish you could make yourself part of one of your favorite stories? Now you can! Young actors will step, jump, hop, and skip into exciting stories, bringing them to life using our voices, bodies, and imaginations. Make new friends, learn new skills, and you may just find that your favorite story has a brand-new ending… created by you! Time Travel Survival Guide

Description: The past, present, and future are always hanging in careful balance. It’s up to you and your team of heroes to keep that balance and maintain order! Students will explore scenes and characters from various decades and eras, bringing to life days gone by and days yet to come. Are you up for the task? Trains, Boats, and Things That Go

Description: Chugga, vroom, wee-oo, beep beep! Let’s travel and explore in different vehicles. Whether we take a boat to a desert island or climb into our rocket ships, we are sure to discover amazing sights. Bring your body, voice, and imagination along the way to create stories and characters and share our discoveries with one another. What If?

Description: What if Scooby Doo had superpowers? What if Minnie Mouse was bitten by a vampire? Or what if Batman was scared of the dark? Join us as we create scenes, stories, and characters to explore all kinds of “what if” scenarios all while inventing fun and interesting consequences.
