Acting for the Camera

Description: Did you know that many of the actors who work on The Coterie stage also do commercials, television series, and films? Learn to transfer your acting skills to the screen! This course covers analyzing commercial and film “copy,” acting, taking direction, audition skills, and techniques on how to work with the camera. All the Things I Can Be*

Description: There are so many things that we can be: a fire fighter keeping people safe, a zoo keeper taking care of animals, or maybe a chef cooking tasty foods to eat! Inspired by the picture book I Can be Me in KC, we will use our bodies, voices, and imaginations to explore different careers and discover all the things we can be! *Students registered in this class must be potty trained. Audition Lab

Description: This class is a great way to prepare yourself for upcoming auditions! With the help of a professional teaching artist, students will choose audition monologues that match their age, personality, and individual audition needs. Students will use the week to prepare a monologue, develop successful strategies for cold readings, and learn how to create a professional resume. The final class includes a special audition with a member of The Coterie’s staff for youth roles in the upcoming Coterie season. This class offers an opportunity for consideration in The Coterie's Acting Master class. Bluey’s Backyard Adventures

Description: Get ready to jump into your favorite stories from Bluey! Join Bluey and all her friends as you pretend to be a doctor, work in a library, drive a taxi, go to the zoo, and so much more. Comedy On Your Feet

Description: This popular Coterie class steps up your comedy game as students explore the wide-open world of improvisation. Students new to improv will learn the framework needed for successful comedy, and alumni will sharpen their comedic skills as they learn about comedy, creating character, and dramatic action. Dive into Design: Costumes

Description: If you have ever been dazzled by a grand costume reveal, or feel transported to another world from the look of the characters, we invite you to join us as we dive into the art of costume design. In this class you will learn the process of creating costume renderings, how to utilize color in your designs, and how costumes help the audience understand a character. Groovy Tales with Pete the Cat

Magical Toy Adventures

Description: Enter a world full of toys that come to life when humans have left the room. Musical Theatre: Triple Threat

Description: If you like acting, singing, and dancing, then musical theatre is for you! In this class, you will perform showstoppers from Broadway—like Wicked or Hadestown! Students will spend the week exploring character, learning choreography, and singing as an ensemble under the direction of an expert musical theatre actor and an accompanist. Students will perform as a chorus for family and friends during the final class. Out Loud: Create Your Own Play

Description: Let’s get on our feet and team up to write and perform a brand-new play! This is a unique performance experience where students will get a chance to work with a professional playwright to create a new short play, and a professional director to rehearse the show in time to have a world premiere on Friday night! On the first day, students will be led through playwriting and character creation activities. Then our playwright will take your ideas and turn them into a script that you will rehearse and then perform at the end of the week. Bring your creativity and join us for this fun and exciting challenge! All students enrolled will have a speaking role—some large and some small. All locations will have a Friday evening performance, students enrolled at KCK and Pembroke locations will also have a Saturday matinee. Description: Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live like a popstar? Would you be a dancing performer like Taylor Swift or easygoing like a country star?
