Volunteer

By volunteering at the Coterie, you will have the opportunity to get a firsthand look at professional theatre, be a part of Kansas City’s leading arts education programs and productions, and hopefully have a lot of fun!

WHO: Any adult age 21 or over can sign up to be a volunteer usher. We invite you to bring up to three additional family members with you, regardless of their age, because ANYBODY can be a special helper at The Coterie…a family of four, grandparents with their grandkid, or even just you!

WHAT: Family ushers may support patrons who may need assistance into the theatre, help guide seating, provide supervision inside the theatre, or pass out programs and parking validation. The House Manager will provide you with specific details about how we can best use the skills of everybody in your family!

WHEN: We can always use ushers for any of our performances, but our greatest need is commonly for weekend shows (including Friday evenings and Saturday/Sunday matinees), or weekday shows during the holiday season. Volunteer ushers arrive 45 minutes before showtime. Once the performance begins, you and your family will join the audience in your reserved seats and enjoy the show!

WHERE: The Coterie Theatre is located on Level 1 of the Crown Center shops. Family Ushers will check in at the Box Office when they arrive.

WHY: This is a fantastic opportunity for a family of up to four to see a professional, live theatrical performance for free—all while helping our staff foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for all of our guests.
