Parking & Traffic During the World Cup

FIFA Fan Festival events at the WWI Memorial & Museum will affect traffic around Crown Center. To help your visit start stress-free, here’s what to know about Festival dates, traffic, parking, and transit in June and July.

Fan Festival Dates

  • June 11-16: Heartland Hello
  • June 19-21: Sports Town USA
  • June 24-27: The World’s Game
  • July 3-5: Home Team
  • July 9-11: KC Creates

Road Closures

  • On Festival dates, Main St. and 27th St. will be closed.
  • Some roads around the Memorial will close to the public as well.
  • Grand Blvd. will remain open and accessible from both directions.

Parking

For Individuals: Both Crown Center parking garages will remain open throughout the summer.

  • The retail garage (directly connected to Crown Center) is accessible from Grand Blvd.
  • The Pershing Garage (connected to The Theatre School) will also remain open with entrances on Grand Blvd. and Pershing.
  • We offer all-day parking validation at either garage. We cannot validate surface lot, street parking, or Union Station garage parking.

For Buses: Buses may drop students off in front of the main entrance to Crown Center on Grand Blvd. as usual.

  • On non-Festival dates, buses may park in Lot 10 at 26th and Grand.
  • On Festival dates, buses will need to park on the street along McGee Trafficway between 25th and 27th Street.

Recommendations

Arrive 45-60 minutes early. Traffic at the Fan Festival will likely increase before match times or before headline performances. Check-in and seating begins 30 minutes before curtain, but there are plenty of sights and activities all around Crown Center to explore before the show!

Register with Metropolis Parking before you arrive. If you haven’t been to Crown Center yet this year, they have moved to a pay-by-plate electronic parking system. You can register before you arrive by visiting www.metropolis.io/join. Be sure to get your all-day parking validation before leaving the theatre; other retailers can only offer 2-hour parking (or 5-hour with a purchase of $50 or more).

Ride the Streetcar! The KC Streetcar now runs from Riverfront Park all the way to UMKC. The Union Station stop is right here at Crown Center, making it an accessible alternative to parking.

Questions? You can contact the Box Office at 816-474-6552 (M-F 10am-4pm with additional hours before weekend performances). You can see the most up-to-date information directly from the Festival organizers at their website.

Late Arrival Policy

  • Doors open 30 minutes before curtain. We encourage you to arrive early and explore the displays, attractions, restaurants, and shopping available at Crown Center.
  • Late arrivals will be seated by the House Manager at the first suitable pause in the performance.
  • If you are unable to make your performance, please contact the Box Office to discuss exchanging your tickets to another date. Refunds are not available.
